Pest Bird Management

Long-term bird control built on exclusion and habitat management, not one-off removal, for Singapore's pest birds: pigeons, mynas and crows.

Pest birds are one of the most persistent building management challenges in Singapore. The three pest bird groups here, feral pigeons, mynas (both the Javan myna and the common myna) and house crows, roost on ledges, nest in service areas, foul façades and walkways with guano, and can carry mites and pathogens that pose a genuine public health concern, particularly around F&B premises and food handling areas.

ESC provides specialised pest bird management designed for long-term results. One-off dispersal or removal seldom works: birds return to a site because it offers food, shelter or safe roosting. Our programmes therefore combine physical exclusion, deterrence and population management with practical advice on housekeeping and waste management, so the site itself stops being attractive.

Every programme begins with a bird survey, identifying the species, population size, roosting and nesting sites, and the site features sustaining them. From there we design a proportionate, regulation-compliant control programme and back it up with monitoring and documentation.

What We Do

Scope of service

Bird surveys & audits

Structured surveys of species, numbers, roost and nest locations, and attractants: the evidence base for an effective programme.

Bird proofing & exclusion

Netting, stainless-steel spikes, wire and post systems and mesh screening, installed neatly and specified to the building and species.

Deterrent systems

Visual, acoustic and physical deterrents deployed and rotated intelligently to prevent habituation.

Population management

Humane, regulation-compliant management of persistent populations, coordinated with the relevant authorities where required.

Nest & roost removal

Safe removal of nests and roosting debris, including work at height with proper access equipment.

Guano cleaning & sanitisation

Thorough removal and disinfection of bird droppings from façades, ledges, plant rooms and walkways, protecting both health and building fabric.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why do the birds keep coming back after we chase them away?

Because the site still offers what they need: food, shelter or safe roosting. Dispersal without exclusion is temporary by design. Our programmes remove or block those attractants so the site stops being viable for the birds.

Will netting or spikes make my building look bad?

Properly specified and installed, modern bird proofing is discreet. Netting can be colour-matched and tensioned neatly, and spikes are installed out of normal sight lines. We plan installations to protect both the building and its appearance.

Is bird droppings clean-up really a health issue?

Yes. Accumulated guano can harbour fungal spores and bacteria, corrode building surfaces, and create slip hazards. Cleaning should include proper disinfection and personal protective measures, which is exactly what our sanitisation service provides.

Do you handle protected bird species?

Some species in Singapore are protected and require specific approvals before any intervention. We identify the species first and manage every case in compliance with the applicable regulations.
